Aden, NewsYemen:

Economic organizations and centers have warned of the dangers of targeting the banking sector in Yemen by the Houthi militia, against the background of the militia’s storming of a bank operating in Sanaa, suspending its work, arresting its officials and looting its servers.

Rights Radar, an international human rights organization, condemned the Houthi militia’s storming of the headquarters of the Islamic Solidarity Bank in Sana'a, stopping work there and seizing servers and recording devices.

"The targeting of the banking sector in Yemen directly affects the confidence of depositors, and thus negatively affects the financial liquidity and the living situation in the country," it said in a statement on Saturday.

In turn, the Center for Studies and Economic Media described the actions of the Houthi security authorities in Sanaa, represented in storming banks, arresting their officials and suspending their work, as a "dangerous step that will lead to catastrophic repercussions at the local, regional and international levels and affect the reputation of the Yemeni banking sector as well as have major negative consequences for the local economic situation and the living situation. "

The center criticized, in a statement, the failure to respond to the efforts calling for the neutralization of the banking sector, and considered it "a persistence in harming the banking sector and ignoring the requirements of the economic situation and the needs of the Yemeni people."

Late last week, the Houthi militia closed the Islamic Tadamun Bank in Sana'a and stopped its banking activity.

As a result, the bank warned of the negative consequences that may affect the suspension of the Yemeni banking sector, and consequently the suspension of economic activity in the country completely.
