Prices of oil derivatives in Aden and the neighboring governorates increased by 9% over the current month of February, at the end of January 6800 riyals per -dilla - 20 liters, as the price of one liter of petroleum recorded 380 riyals on Friday morning, an increase of one dollar and 30 cents per  20 liters.

The Yemeni oil company raised the prices of oil derivatives in the temporary capital, Aden, for the second time in 12 days to 7600 riyals per oil tank, on Friday, from 7200 riyals on the second of November and 6800 riyals at the end of last January.

The Yemeni oil company attributed the decision to raise the price to banking at the central bank, and to raise prices by importers.

The famine early warning system network had expected prices of imports to Yemen to rise due to the devaluation of the local currency, the riyal, last January, which would lead to higher prices for both food and fuel.

It pointed out that high fuel prices will increase transportation costs, pressure on food prices, and reduce the purchasing power of millions of Yemenis suffering from food insecurity.

The local currency lost during last January about 8% of its value against foreign currencies - the US dollar - in the city of Aden, where the price of the dollar crossed the threshold of 650 riyals for sale.
