Hundreds of people from Socotra Island, southeast of Yemen, on Saturday implemented a protest in front of the headquarters of the Arab Alliance, to demand the return of civil flights to the archipelago airport.

The protesters appealed to the Arab alliance and the legal government to return the flights of the Emirates Royal Jet Company in the near future and without delay, stressing that stopping their flights exacerbated the suffering of the citizens, especially the sick.

They pointed out the importance of the role played by the Emirates Royal Jet Company, to break the isolation of Socotra Island and facilitate the transportation of travelers and patients, by two flights per week, and with the support of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Action.

Residents say that the Royal Jet Company reduced their suffering for four years, before its flights to Socotra stopped half a month ago, without knowing the reasons.
