Houthi militias failed to launch a ballistic missile from a site in the south of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, early Sunday, and exploded at the site, killing and wounding experts and Houthi elements.

Local sources said that more than a dozen Houthi elements were killed in the missile explosion during an unsuccessful attempt to launch it in addition to casualties, and that the militias are concealing the numbers and identities of the dead.

It added that a powerful explosion was heard at the failed launch site of the ballistic missile, to the south of the capital, Sana'a, after one in the morning.

According to the information, a failed missile strike was likely targeting southern Saudi Arabia, where militias threatened to respond to air operations in Jawf.

On January 28, the American "Breaking Defense" website said that Iranian experts and a group of Houthi rebels were killed when an Iranian-made ballistic missile exploded before its launch, which was believed to have targeted Saudi Arabia.

The American site noted that this was not the first time that a Houthi ballistic missile had exploded prior to its launch. In mid-June last year, Iranian military experts were reportedly killed at a military base near the capital, Sanaa, in the area controlled by the Houthi militia.
