On Friday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo considered that intercepting weapons from Iran while trying to smuggle them to the Houthi coups in Yemen is evidence that Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism and is still challenging the Security Council by continuing to smuggle weapons to the Houthis, calling for international action to renew the arms embargo imposed on Tehran which is ending soon.

"The US Navy intercepted 385 Iranian-made missiles and other weapons components on its way to the Houthis in Yemen," Pompeo said in a tweet on his Twitter account.

"This is yet another example of the Islamic Republic of Iran being the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world and its defiance of the United Nations Security Council," Pompeo added, in his tweet translated by Al Hurra.

The foreign minister concluded: "The world must reject Iran's violence and move now to renew the arms embargo imposed on it, which will end soon."

On Thursday, the US military announced that a US Navy ship confiscated "Iranian design and manufacture" weapons that include more than 150 anti-tank missiles and 3 Iranian surface-to-air missiles.

In a statement, the army said that the sailors of the Normandy boarded a sailing ship in the Arabian Sea last Sunday.

"The confiscated weapons included 150 anti-tank guided missiles from the Dahliyah type, which is an Iranian tradition of the Russian Cornet missile," he added.

He stressed that "the components of other weapons confiscated from the sailing ship are Iranian design and manufacture, and include three Iranian surface-to-surface missiles, thermal imaging devices and Iranian components for maritime and airborne equipment."

In addition, the US Central Command said, on Thursday, that it had seized an Iranian arms shipment in the Arabian Sea, likely that it was "aimed at the Houthis in Yemen."

"On February 9, the US Navy stopped a USS Normandy (CG 60) ship on a sailboat and discovered a large weapons cache, while conducting maritime security operations in its area of operations," the central command added, in a statement.

The statement added, "The US Navy seized on board the boat about 150 anti-tank missiles" type "Dahlawi" (ATGM), which are Iranian versions of the Russian Cornet missiles. "

"He added," along with other Iranian-made weapons components, including 3 surface-to-air missiles, thermal imaging binoculars, Iranian components for air drones and surface vehicles, and other ammunition and advanced weapon parts. "

"Many of these weapons systems are identical to other advanced ones captured by the USS Forrest Sherman in the Arabian Sea on November 25," the US Central Command said in its statement.

The Central Command indicated that the seized weapons are awaiting final action, and that countries and international partner organizations have been invited to inspect the weapons.

The US Central Command posted on its Twitter site a video clip accompanying the statement, documenting the moment the vehicle was attacked, in addition to showing pictures of the missiles and weapons found on the boat.
