The people of Socotra Island, southeast of Yemen, went out on Saturday, in a mass demonstration, to demand not to threaten security and disturb the public serenity, and sow division among the residents of the archipelago.

The protesters gathered in front of the headquarters of the first brigade, Marine Corps (Camp Mori), stressing their rejection of the actions of the acting brigade commander, Brigadier General Nasser Qais, to conduct a military parade on the island.

The protesters denounced the financial cuts carried out by the brigade's command and the salaries of individuals, accusing "Qais" of selling military vehicles.

The protesters authorized an interactive committee headed by Yahya Mubarak, head of the local leadership of the Southern Transitional Council, in Socotra, to transfer their demands to the leadership of the 1st Marine Brigade, as well as to the Arab coalition forces.

A meeting held by the committee formed with the Arab coalition leadership concluded an agreement stopping the military march to Hadibo and diverting its path to the areas in the western part of the island, to prevent the residents from worrying.
