The United Nations has canceled patient transportation flights from Sanaa airport to Egypt and Jordan just two days after the launch of the medical airlift, due to its disruption by the Houthis.

Well-informed sources said that the World Health Organization canceled flights of "mercy planes" from Sanaa to Amman and Cairo to transfer difficult medical cases after the Houthi militia disrupted the air bridge launched by the coalition as a humanitarian initiative, according to the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat.

On Monday, February 3, a United Nations plane took off from the Houthi militia airport, controlled by Yemeni militia carrying Yemeni patients for treatment abroad, on the first flight as part of an air bridge to evacuate Yemeni patients, including children with kidney failure, to Jordanian capital, Amman.

The Alliance for Support of Legitimacy in Yemen last week launched an air bridge to transport patients from Yemen for treatment abroad, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, with the aim of providing relief to the patients of Yemen, and the aircraft that will be used in the air evacuation bridge were called "mercy planes."

The spokesperson for the coalition forces, Colonel Turki al-Maliki, confirmed last Monday that this step "comes within the humanitarian and relief efforts, standing with the Yemeni people and alleviating the suffering of sick cases.
