The American "Breaking Defense" website said that Iranian experts and a group of Houthi rebels in Yemen were killed when an Iranian-made ballistic missile exploded before its launch on January 28, which was believed to have targeted Saudi Arabia.

The American site noted that this was not the first time that a Houthi ballistic missile had exploded prior to its launch.  In mid-June last year, Iranian military experts were reportedly killed at a military base near the capital, Sanaa, in the area controlled by the Houthi militia.

The report of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Yemen says that Houthi forces continue to receive military support in the form of assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and anti-tank guided missiles, as well as more advanced cruise missile systems.  Some of these weapons have technical characteristics similar to those manufactured in Iran
