Amin al-Okimi, governor of al-Jawf, in north-eastern Yemen, called upon the tribesmen to support the army forces in the province, in the face of the Houthi militia.

Al-Okimi called on the tribes of the province to stand in line with the government forces "to preserve the gains of the province and defend its accomplishments achieved during the past few years."

The call from al-Okimi, loyal to the Islah party, came at a time when al-Jouf witnessed violent confrontations between government forces, on the one hand, and the Houthi militia on the other, amid reports of the latter's progress on several fronts.

The Houthi militia had targeted, with a ballistic missile, a military meeting of leaders loyal to legitimacy in the governmental compound of Al-Jawf Governorate.
