Taiz Passports Department Suspends Work Amid Killing Officer Inside Department

An officer was killed in Taiz passports Department by a soldier in the military police affiliated with Islah Party in Taiz city.
Informed sources told NewsYemen that the officer in the passport department of Taiz Colonel Nasr Muharram, who is close to Taiz security director Colonel Mansour al-Akhali, was shot dead by the soldier of the military police while trying to enter along with his friend to have a passport.
According to eyewitness, the soldier tried to break into the passport gate, he tried to storm the passports' gate with his gun along with a civilian in order to get a new passport.
The soldier and his friend were prevented to enter, the soldier' gun was confiscated.
Sources pointed out that the guard soldiers of Passports department then handed soldier over his personal weapon minutes after the confiscation then the soldier opened fire and killed the passport officer.
In the context, the Passport Department announced the suspension of its work, until further notice, asking the Taiz security authorities to arrest the soldier accused of killing the passports officer inside the department.
Taiz passports are packed with thousands of citizens wishing to obtain passports since the beginning of this month. Four months ago, the Ministry of the Interior's Immigration and Passports Authority announced that passports were no longer being provided.
