Hussein Hassan al-Saqqaf planted vegetables and fruits for the basic daily food, watermelon, pumpkin, dill, coffee, apple, strawberry, mint, tomatoes, figs, guava, lettuce and eggplant, at the roof of his house one and a half year.

In a new step to invest at the surface of the house in agriculture, and to refrain from buying from the local market, using simple tools, local metal, plastic containers, and natural and other industrial fertilizer.

The motive came after his retirement of the government job, he said, indicating that the idea came after a question his former Palestinian colleague, who had studied together at Aden University.

Al-Saqqaf asked "How to get food during the siege on the Gaza Strip," the Palestinian answered , "to grow vegetables at roofs and balconies to feed each family of its crop resulting from daily agriculture."
