أعلن قائد المنطقة العسكرية الثانية في مدينة المكلا اللواء فرج سالمين البحسني ان القوات اليمنية اعتقلت نحو 250 عنصرا بينهم قياديون كبار في القاعدة منذ أستعادة المدينة بجنوب شرق اليمن في 24 نيسان، التي كان يسيطر عليها التنظيم المتطرف. ونقلت وكالة الأنباء الفرنسية عن اللواء سالمين ان "أحد هؤلاء القياديين، محمد صالح الغرابي، المعروف بأمير الشحر، اعتقل في المدينة التي تبعد 60 كلم شرق المكل"ا. وأوضح سالمين ان الاعتقالات تمت في المكلا وأنحائها. وسيطر مسلحو القاعدة العام الماضي على المكلا قبل ان تستعيدها القوات الحكومية اليمنية بدعم من القوات الخاصة الإماراتية التي تشكل جزءا من التحالف بقيادة السعودية ضد الحوثيين.
