Mocha Airport is preparing to operate flights with Emirati support

The completion of this window is a spark of hope for the people of Taiz and the neighboring governorates that suffer from the siege and the oppression of the Houthi militias - Iran's arm in Yemen, over the past 9 years. Mocha International Airport project is one of the important development projects funded by the UAE in Yemen, in order to alleviate the burdens of the Houthi war and its devastating effects. The airport is an important air artery that will serve the residents of the governorates of Taiz and Al Hodeidh and a sixth gate for Yemen after the airports of Aden, Sayun, Al Rayyan, Al Ghaydah and Ataq.
Officials at Mocha Airport confirmed that this vital port is almost ready after completing all the equipment in the airport building, tower, halls and service facilities, noting that air traffic to and from the airport will be ready in the next few period.
The officials pointed out that the airport is in the final touches, with the arrival of some important and necessary equipment for the launch of the flights naturally, explaining that after the completion of the expansion and the necessary equipment, the airport was able to accommodate large aircraft.
The UAE has delivered a lot of important and necessary equipment to operate the airport, whether vehicles operating in the runway or equipment inside its facilities.
Recently, the Mocha port and airport announced the completion of the equipping of the border control systems in the sea and air ports, and linking the passports to the Ministry of Interior's database.
According to the statement of Lieutenant-Colonel Sami Muhammad Ali, Director General of Border Control at the Ministry of Interior, the system is working on several steps that start by reading the passport of the traveler who arrives or leave automatically, as well as taking an immediate picture of the traveler, and documenting the decathlon footprint, in addition to the system of communications via satellite and its mission is to transfer data from the branch to the main center and the rest of the other ports for managing travelers data in all Land, sea and air outlets. The Mocha International Airport project is part of the development plan in the liberated districts and areas of the West Coast. In addition to that it will constitute a qualitative shift in the field of air navigation and air transport to the liberated areas, the project represents an important point in reviving the economic movement witnessed by the city of Mocha and the West Coast in general.
The airport project is added to a package of important development projects, including the project to develop the port and its annexes, as well as the path of Al-Kadha - Taiz, and housing complexes and others whose goal is to alleviate the humanitarian crisis due to the intransigence of Al-Houthi and his continued siege of the governorates of Taiz and Al-Hodeidah, which is suffering more than eight million Yemenis. The Deputy Governor of Taiz, Rashad Al-Akhali, stressed the strategic importance of Mocha Airport as a strategic achievement no less important than the historical port of the city, indicating that the airport will serve millions of people in Taiz, the western coast and neighboring governorates, in addition to that it will deepen the strategic importance of Mocha as a promising and developed city.
