Aden, NewsYemen, exclusive:

While the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, Abu Bakr Baabid, confirmed the news of diverting commercial ships from the port of Aden to the ports of Hodeidah, which is under the control of the terrorist Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, economists and politicians accused the internationally recognized government of Maeen Abdul Malik of supporting the militias in this regard.

Baabid, in a statement to "Yemen Today" channel, said that the merchant ships that were on their way to Aden were diverted towards the port of Hodeidah, which they entered without any inspection or detention by the Arab coalition as usual, and that the merchants informed the government of the matter and the seriousness of it, and we have what  proves it with documents.

The journalist concerned with economic affairs, Majed Al-Daari, accused, in a post on his Facebook account, the Maeen government of supporting the militias in this aspect.  He said that the militias deliberately kept the price of the customs dollar there at 250 riyals and paid half of the value of the customs amount in cash and the other half by check to attract all merchants to return to the port of Hodeidah and eliminate any remaining navigation traffic to the port of Aden, Mukalla or Al-Shihr after a certain government raised the value of the customs dollar in it to 750 for the first time to expel imported merchants and kill the people with high prices and the collapse of the value of the local currency.

The political journalist, Fathi bin Lazraq, agrees with this proposition, stressing that the decision to raise the price of the customs dollar in the port of Aden was a malicious decision with purely political dimensions.

He added, "Logic says that the trader, while comparing the port of Aden, which imposes a customs price of 750 riyals per dollar per dollar, and 250 riyals per dollar in the port of Hodeidah, will choose the port of Hodeidah without any hesitation and without paying attention to any other calculations."

On the tenth of last January, the internationally recognized legitimate government approved raising the price of the dollar used to calculate customs duties to 750 riyals, an increase of 50 percent.

This decision was met with popular rejection due to its negative consequences on the lives of citizens, while Parliament announced its reservation on the decision, and the Southern Transitional Council called on the Presidential Leadership Council to take measures to ensure the urgent cancellation of the decision because of its disastrous consequences for citizens.

On Monday, February 6, the Administrative Court in the capital, Aden, issued an order suspending the decision, until a representative of the Prime Ministry attends the judicial session in the case against the Presidency of the Council and the Economic Council.
