The scene of the Presidential Leadership Council and its affiliated bodies continuing to hold their meetings outside Yemen recalled the way former President Hadi's regime managed the country during the seven years of war, to the extent of calling the "legitimacy of exile" a joke and mockery of it.

Within half a month, the Presidential Leadership Council held its third meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, despite its president, Rashad Al-Alimi, repeatedly stressing that the council will soon reconvene in the capital, Aden, in which the last official meeting was held in the presence of all its members 5 months ago.

The continued presence of the President of the Council and most of its members abroad, in addition to the government and the Council’s bodies, despite the magnitude of the challenges faced by the legitimate authority in the liberated areas, especially in the economic aspect, in light of the continued suspension of oil exports for the third month in a row as a result of the attacks launched by the Houthi group on the ports  export.

This is what the Council acknowledges in its recent meetings, the last of which was last Saturday, in which it spoke - according to the official media - about what it called "government measures and choices that led to limiting the effects of the catastrophic repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities."

While the news, which was published by the official Saba agency, about the meeting, did not talk about the nature of these procedures and options.  He pointed out that the Council took "a number of related decisions, including the formation of a crisis cell headed by the Prime Minister and the membership of a number of relevant ministers and the governor of the Central Bank, to follow up the economic, financial and monetary developments, and take immediate remedies in their regard."

Perhaps what was remarkable in the news of the meeting was the reference to the council's listening to "additional proposals and briefings from the head of the economic team, Hossam Al-Sharjabi."  It is one of the bodies formed as part of the announcement of the transfer of power from Hadi to the Presidential Leadership Council on April 7 of last year, along with the legal team and the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission.

The economic team headed by Al-Sharjabi and includes 14 members, most of whom are outside Yemen. It has not held any meeting inside or outside Yemen since the announcement of the transfer of power more than 8 months ago, and the same applies to the legal team.  whose activity was limited to handing over the draft rules regulating the work of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, and the legal and economic teams, to the President of the Leadership Council in late May.

While the situation was better for the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, whose presidency held more than one meeting in the capital, Aden, the matter stopped after the events of Shabwa last August, which caused the sessions of the Presidential Leadership Council to be held in Aden.

It was remarkable that the “virtual” meeting held by the Presidency of the Commission on Saturday coincided with the meeting of the Presidential Leadership Council with the aim of arranging the holding of its general meeting in Aden, according to what was published by the “Saba” agency, in a scene that reflects the situation experienced by the Presidency Council and its affiliated bodies, in which it has become an issue  Returning to practice activity from the capital, Aden, requires holding meetings, discussions and arrangements.
