The tribe” in Al-Jawf and the “resistance” in Taiz.. Banners for the Brotherhood’s battles over positions
English - Saturday 05 November 2022 الساعة 06:04 pmAfter being forgotten for years, the term "popular resistance" reappeared in Taiz by the Brotherhood, with banners and slogans erected after the Friday prayers performed by the group's members in Freedom Square in the city.
After Friday prayers, Brotherhood members raised banners saying that "the popular resistance in Taiz renews its resolve and promises the people a new phase of resistance and support for the national army," while the group's media published news about the participation of leaders of the so-called "Supreme Council for Popular Resistance."
The council, headed by the Brotherhood leader residing in Turkey, Sheikh Hammoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi, is an entity established by the Brotherhood at the beginning of the war, with the aim of taking the lead at the time and removing the military council established by military leaders to manage the battle against the Houthi militia.
The council practically ended with Al-Mikhlafi’s departure from Taiz to Turkey and in light of the Brotherhood’s success in imposing its complete control over the joints of the army in Taiz through the leadership of the axis, which was practically managed by Brigadier General / Abdo Farhan Salem, advisor to the axis commander and the military leader of the Brotherhood in Taiz.
However, the sudden departure of "Salem" recently from Taiz, with news that it is leaving without return, as happened with his colleague Al-Mikhlafi, raised speculation and expectations that it is a strong indication of the Presidential Council's tendency to bring about comprehensive changes in Taiz Governorate, especially the leadership of the axis.
According to this scenario, observers believe that the Brotherhood's revival of the "popular resistance" paper indicates the group's intention to use it to confront these changes or perhaps as a cover for rebellion against it, in the event of losing its control over the leadership of the axis and the army.
Pointing to what happened in Al-Jawf recently, when the Brotherhood moved the tribe’s card to rebel against the decision of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council to dismiss the Brotherhood’s governor / Amin Al-Akimi, and to carry out armed sit-ins in the name of the Dahm tribe and the Al-Jawf tribes, in refusal to dismiss the man.
