They call themselves "Sayed's informants." A Houthi force kidnaps activists in Ibb
English - Monday 24 October 2022 الساعة 03:44 pmThe Houthi militias in Ibb governorate carried out campaigns to track and kidnap human rights activists and a sports journalist, against the background of their opinions and publications on social media pages that criticized the deteriorating security situation and the crimes committed by militia loyalists inside the governorate.
Local sources confirmed to NewsYemen that the city of Ibb, the center of the governorate, witnessed arrest campaigns against activists and journalists as part of the Houthi militia's policy of repression and intimidation against its critics within its areas of control.
She explained that a Houthi force had kidnapped sports journalist Majid Yassin and civil activists Hamdi Abdul Razzaq, Murad Al-Banna and Khaled Al-Anas, and took them to an unknown destination.
According to the sources, the kidnapping of the journalist "Majid Yassin" came against the background of publications about what happened in the Al-Saeed Educational Complex after the Houthi militia arrested and referred the director of the complex, Mr. Faiza Al-Baadani, against the background of a celebration she held on the occasion of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions.
Sports journalist Majid Yassin was kidnapped for two months after his return from attending a sports event in the liberated Shabwa governorate on Wednesday evening, November 24, 2021.
The sources indicated that the Houthi militia tried to hide the arbitrary measures that Ms. Al-Badani was subjected to, but activists on social media in the city of Ibb revealed the details of the case, which angered the militias and prompted them to launch arrest campaigns for everyone who contributed to spreading the truth of what happened.
She indicated that another Houthi force, currently known in the city of Ibb as "Al-Sayed informants," has spread in the old city of Ibb to pursue and hunt down activist Hamdi Abdel-Razzaq, where the militias managed to kidnap him and transfer him to one of its secret prisons.
The campaign of kidnappings also affected both Murad Al-Banna and Khaled Al-Anas, and it came against the background of their opinions on social media and their criticism of the deteriorating conditions in the governorate, and the remarkable spread of crime due to the militias’ control of the security services and the disruption of their tasks.
The campaign of kidnapping the activists was preceded by intense campaigns of incitement by Houthi leaders and their loyalists in Ibb, accusing them of treason and mercenary, and providing information about Ibb governorate to media outlets affiliated with the Yemeni government and the Arab coalition countries.
