The Yemeni businessman, Hussein Al-Huthaili, returned to the fore again after he angered the people of Shabwa against the backdrop of his monopoly on transporting crude oil from exploration sites far from the pipeline in the Shabwa and Hadramout fields.

Oil sources told (Newsyemen) that the Al-Huthaili Company, which is sub-owned by General Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar, the former vice president, has a monopoly on the rights to transport crude oil from the exploration fields of the Canadian Calvali companies and DNO in Hadramout to the nearest site for the crude oil export pipeline through Al-Nashma port.  Noting that the distance over which crude oil is transported is more than 100 km, and its financial revenues are estimated in the millions.

The sources added that Al-Huthaili, who owns more than 200 oil tankers, prevented the participation of any of the people of Shabwa in the process of transporting crude oil and insisted on its monopoly under a contract he obtained under the directives of the former Vice President, General Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar, pointing out that this matter angered the people of Shabwa who see themselves as entitled to transport crude oil.

The sources indicated that Al-Huthaili transports in a day between 60 and 70 batches of oil derivatives with his fleet of tankers, and refuses the participation of the people of Shabwa, some of whom own one or two tankers, adding that during the past few days, the tribes of Shabwa have detained his locomotives and demanded an end to his monopoly on transporting  Crude oil from Marib and Hadramout towards the oil export pipeline in Shabwa.

It is noteworthy that the Al-Huthaili Company’s monopoly on the transportation of oil derivatives came according to a contract signed in 2015 before the start of the Decisive Storm.

And this is not the first time that Al-Huthaili locomotives have been subjected to detention, as the Ubaidah tribes in Marib announced in the middle of last year that Al-Huthaili was prevented from transporting crude oil from Marib to Shabwa, and demanded the local authority to enable the people of the province of their wealth and not to give it to the stranger, in reference to Al-Huthaili, whose origins date back to Sana'a.
