Hodeidah, NewsYemen:

The lands of Al-Sawaqi in the Bait Al-Faqih district in Al-Hodeidah, which were seized by the Houthi militia by force of arms, are an urgent necessity for the lives of the people.

The lands of Al-Sawaqi extends on the outskirts of the isolation of Al-Qusra in the district of Beit Al-Faqih, with an area of 10 km², and water channels pass through them to irrigate the citizens’ farms. It also contains pastures for livestock and forests for firewood.

According to local sources for NewsYemen, the confiscation of al-Sawaqi lands threatens the lives of thousands of residents of the adjacent villages.

The sources said that the people of the villages of Tarf Yahya Sahel, Al-Khudaria, Al-Maarif and Bani Al-Sabahi in the isolation of Al-Qasra own these lands with old documents, and there are customs dating back hundreds of years regulating everyone’s benefit from the land.

She added that the confiscation of these lands will deprive the residents of water, firewood and grass pastures necessary for survival.

Yesterday (Monday), the Iranian arm in Yemen stormed Al-Qusra with 30 military kits and about 12 bulldozers, and began razing the land claiming that it was affiliated with the Endowments.

The people met the campaign with fierce resistance, as the razing of the lands posed a direct threat to their lives, as the militia responded by firing, mass arrests, and physical attacks on the residents.

Iran's arm is seeking to lease these fertile lands to its own investors.
