Taiz, NewsYemen, special:

The family of Raafat al-Akash, who was killed by security forces in Taiz governorate, carried out a protest sit-in today, to demand the arrest of those who shot him and killed him last Saturday.

Soldiers in the Revolution Department in al-Salakhana neighborhood shot Raafat al-Akash when they carried out a campaign of attacks on the homes of the marginalized, in the Deluxe neighborhood in the city center.

The vigil demanded the arrest of the murderers of the security men, for carrying out a liquidation operation against the soldier Al-Akash, who was deliberately targeted, without being a criminal and without any precedents.

After the incident, Taiz security tried to accuse Raafat Al-Akash of being wanted by the security forces and confronted the security forces, and was accused of several cases.

In their protest, the Al-Akash family considered what happened to be a crime committed by security forces.  Illegally shooting Raafat's body even though he did not confront the security personnel, and their practices of assaulting the marginalized group and shooting them, while they were in their homes, in a barbaric manner.

The killing of Al-Kaish led to a state of resentment in Taiz governorate, about the illegal attacks and killings of citizens by the security forces, and Taiz security’s attempt to cover up crimes and abuses by accusing the victims, and defending the killers who are soldiers within the security establishment and have precedents in violations.

Mazen Al-Dhahabani considered that Raafat Al-Akash's crime represents a crime of targeting citizens by security forces, which have dedicated their presence and tasks to implement procedures that are not related to the law, but rather an infringement on people's rights and property.

Mazen accused the security administration in Taiz of being an undisciplined institution, linked to certain centers of power within Taiz, and that the security motives in justifying the killing of al-Akash represented an evasion of responsibility, a defense of the killers and a legitimization of the crime and wasting the case.
