Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

Sources at the Faculty of Medicine at Sana’a University revealed that the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, is seeking to loot the equipment and devices belonging to one of the college’s departments and sell them to one of the private colleges affiliated with one of the militia leaders.

The sources told NewsYemen that the leaders of the Houthi militias at Sanaa University tried to issue a decision to abolish the nursing department in the College of Medicine, which is one of the main departments in the college, under the pretext of their efforts to convert it into an independent college later, noting that the hidden goal of the decision is to seek to confiscate and loot the equipment, capabilities and laboratories of the department.  And transforming it into a private college that was recently established as an investment project affiliated with a Houthi leader.

According to the sources, the professors of the Faculty of Medicine at Sana’a University are still refusing to implement the decision issued by the presidency of the university and preventing its implementation, as they staged a demonstration rejecting the decision, stressing that its implementation would mark the beginning of the destruction of the Faculty of Medicine, which is the most important scientific faculty in Sana’a University and the only faculty that is still  It is responsible for educating and graduating Yemeni medical cadres in a professional and scientific manner, as most of its professors and teachers have specialized academic and medical qualifications and are far from political conflict.

The sources add that although the professors and teachers of the Faculty of Medicine have distanced themselves from the political conflict, the political interventions by the militias have contributed to the dismissal of a large number of leaders of the National Medical College and the appointment of academic leaders loyal to the militias, even if they do not have the experience, competence, or professional and functional standards for occupying positions of responsibility in  The college as the dean of the college, his deputies and heads of departments.

The sources say that these measures are not new to the militias, as Houthi leaders looted equipment and supplies from a number of Sana’a University faculties, such as the College of Engineering, the College of Agriculture and the College of Computer, and sold them to private universities or used them to establish new universities and colleges affiliated with Houthi leaders.
