The price of the dollar is fake..Houthi strangles the north with outrageous high prices
English - Tuesday 29 March 2022 الساعة 05:01 pmDespite the decline of the dollar in Houthi-controlled areas, prices are burning rapidly, as a result of royalties and levies imposed by the militia on merchants, which confirms that currency rates in Houthi areas are fake and unreal.
The current situation in the militia's areas has proven that the stability of the dollar price in Sana'a is a formality, and is not reflected in the living situation and the stability of the prices of goods and services.
Observers said that the price hike in Houthi areas is due to the fact that traders, importers and banks, when importing, obtain hard currency from government-controlled areas at the same price in those areas, and they import to all provinces. When selling goods in the local markets, the selling price is determined based on the dollar price recorded in Aden.
In contrast to the collapse of the currency, the militia deepened the crises that stifled the citizens, by imposing taxes several times on goods coming to Sana’a, whether from Aden or Hodeidah. At the entrance to each city, money is paid to the Houthis, in addition to other royalties that are imposed on their religious occasions and events and on the battle fronts.
On Thursday, the Houthi militia stormed the famous Shamlan Water Factory, northwest of Sanaa, and suspended production lines there, due to the factory's refusal to pay huge sums of levies.
According to the sources, Houthi leaders demanded the management of the Shamlan Water Factory to pay on a daily basis a large sum of money to support its war effort, but the factory management refused this, which prompted the militia to storm the factory with dozens of armed men, expelling the workers from it and stopping it from working.
