At a public auction.. the rifle of a fighter martyred in the war against the Houthis sold for $88 thousand
English - Monday 28 March 2022 الساعة 06:54 pmActivists sold the rifle of a fighter from Al-Dhalea Governorate, who was martyred in the war against the terrorist Houthi militia, for $88 thousand, in a charitable auction, the first of its kind in Yemen, according to the "Al-Ain News" platform.
More than 20 expatriates competed in the auction, which was put forward by activists in the Al-Shuaib District in Al-Dhalea Governorate (southern Yemen) in favor of constructing roads for remote and poor villages and building a home for the martyr's children, and achieved 110 million Yemeni riyals (equivalent to about $88 thousand) as a record price for a machine gun.
According to Al-Ain Al-News, the story embodies an important symbolism in the midst of the war, as the rifle turned into an attraction to motivate charitable works. It also reflected part of the steadfastness of Al-Dhalea, which had early expelled the Houthi militia before it formed the first nucleus of the southern resistance, the striking force in the fight against terrorism and the coup.
Auction story?
The story goes back to activists calling for a campaign of donations to support a charitable project to build a road in the rugged mountains of Al-Shuaib in Al-Dhalea, where isolated families live and a real tragedy in mobility, especially patients who face death.
Hundreds participated in the campaign of charitable community donations, including a military official in the region, who presented his rifle for the benefit of the charitable project before it was put up for auction and sold for about 61,000 dollars.
This wide interaction prompted the presentation of the rifle of the prominent leader of the Southern Resistance, "Ali Sheriba", who disembarked in the fight against terrorism and had visits and tours in the face of the Houthi coup militias in Al-Dhalea and Aden since 2015, in another charity auction.
According to activist Amin Al-Omairan, one of the organizers of the charitable auction, the southern philanthropist Ahmed Al-Faqih Al-Hadhari won the weapon of the martyr Shariba after he offered 88,000 dollars for the price of the gun, which is a record in the south and Yemen as a whole, and in an arms auction that is the first of its kind in the country.
In an interview with Al-Ain News, he explained that 50% of the auction proceeds will go towards building a house for the Sheriba family, and 50% for the road project, which bears the same name and aims to pave a road for hundreds of residents in remote villages.
