The US State Department has expressed its disappointment and alarm at the presence of Iranian military officials and senior officers of the Revolutionary Guards at the Doha Defense Exhibition in Qatar.

"We are deeply disappointed and disturbed by the presence of Iranian military officials and officers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards at the Doha Defense Exhibition in Qatar," the ministry said in a statement issued on Saturday, adding, "We categorically reject their presence at the exhibition, as Iran is the biggest threat to maritime stability in Gulf area".

The ministry continued, "Transactions related to Iranian weapons are generally subject to sanctions under US authorities, including sanctions related to terrorism and weapons of mass destruction."

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh responded, on Sunday, to the American position opposing the attendance of a number of Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders at the Doha Military Fair.

In a statement published by the student news agency ISNA, Khatibzad said, "The Revolutionary Guard, as one of the pillars of the Iranian military forces, and has a major role in strengthening the country's defense capabilities, will actively participate in demonstrating these achievements."

Khatibzadeh called on the United States to "refrain from taking tense positions and behaviors and continue to make accusations about the stability of the region," he claimed.

The Iranian Students' News Agency, "ISNA", reported that Iran displayed several models of aircraft, missiles and other military equipment at the Doha fair.

It added, "The Iranian wing is located next to the wing of the American company General Atomics, which produces drones, with which the US government assassinated the former commander of the Quds Force, General Qassem Soleimani."

The United States, Qatar's main ally, considers the Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization and imposes severe sanctions on it.
