The branch of the terrorist organization ISIS in Yemen announced its pledge of allegiance to the new emir of the organization, "Abu al-Hassan al-Hashemi al-Qurashi."
And pro-ISIS accounts published on the global Twitter site "Twitter" a picture showing a group of ISIS militants in Yemen declaring allegiance to the new emir of the organization, "Abu al-Hassan al-Hashemi al-Qurashi".
This comes after the announcement of ISIS militants in Kirkuk, Iraq, and another group of militants believed to belong to the organization's branch in West Africa, brandishing their weapons in the air and standing around the ISIS flag, pledging allegiance to "Abu al-Hassan al-Qurashi."
Earlier, ISIS had published an audio recording through the Al-Furqan Foundation, its media arm, confirming for the first time the killing of its former leader, Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi, and announced the introduction of its new leader, "Abu al-Hassan al-Hashemi al-Qurashi."
The recording was issued by the new spokesman for the organization, "Abu Omar al-Muhajir," who indicated that "Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi" was the one who chose "Abu al-Hassan al-Qurashi" to succeed him and that he had been in command since early February.
While US officials did not comment on Abu al-Hassan al-Qurashi's rise to the position of ISIS emir or his true identity, Reuters news agency reported at the time, quoting Iraqi and Western officials, that "Abu al-Hassan al-Qurashi" is in fact called Juma'a Awad al-Badri, meaning that he is The brother of the former caliph of ISIS "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi", who was killed years ago.
However, the report quoted "New Lines" magazine, that the new leader of ISIS is likely to be a man known as Bashar Khattab Ghazal Al-Sumaidaie, a senior judicial official.
The author of the report also wrote on Twitter that Al-Badri appears to be the new speaker.
Therefore, the American radio report continued, saying that regardless of the identity of the new ISIS leader, officials and analysts expect “ISIS to intensify its media campaign to confirm that it has the confidence of not only the organization’s senior officials, but also the confidence of them in the organization’s ranks and sites.”
The report stated that ISIS adopted the same strategy after the killing of al-Baghdadi in October 2019, when he flooded social media with pictures of gunmen from around the world pledging allegiance to "Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Qurashi" at the time.
He pointed out that US and Western intelligence later considered that "Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi" was in fact named Amir Muhammad Saeed Abd al-Rahman al-Mawla (also known as Hajj Abdullah, among several other names), a cleric who was on al-Baghdadi's side in 2004 in the Iraqi prison of Bucca, which was supervised by the United States.
