Aden, NewsYemen:

The government's silence continues on the first steps of its kind in which the Iranian Revolutionary Guard took control of the MTN Mobile Communications Company with an Omani commercial cover.

Journalist specializing in management and economics issues, Majed Al-Daeri, wrote an opinion on the shameful "deal of silence".

 Article text:

Overnight, a new telecommunications company appeared to us, in Aden and the liberated southern regions, in the name of #Yemeni_Omani_United_Telecom, as a new, unidentified and owned telecommunications company together, and although it operates from the headquarters and branches of the South African mtn Yemen Telecom Company, which recently sold its branch in Yemen in an undisclosed illegal secret deal.

For a coalition of Houthi leaders and Omani merchants, they seized it at a cheap price, and immediately changed its name only and advertising marketing to its new name, without any government licenses or official approvals to operate it as a new telecommunications company as required by Yemeni law, and with the aim of evading the main company “MTN” from  Paying the remaining millions of dollars in tax fees and legal dues to the state and bringing the Sultanate into it, even though its administration is still from Yemen and under the grip and control of the Houthi militia in Sana’a, after the legitimate government of a certain rejected all the demands addressed to it by specialized telecommunications companies and southern investors to grant them purchase and operating licenses  And managing the company in the liberated south regions in preparation for separating it from the Houthi areas, according to the Saba Phone company’s method, and rebuilding the administration of its main center in Aden.

To ensure its independence and to secure its services provided to its audience in the south and away from the domination, eavesdropping, spying and monitoring of the Houthi militia’s calls to its clients and using them in their ongoing military war, and revealing the locations and movements of important figures in preparation for targeting them, as happens with many southern military, political, security leaders and others in areas outside Houthi control.

Perhaps the strangest thing is that a certain government’s refusal to grant a business license to the company before it is sold to the Houthis is the sympathy and leniency of the legitimate Ministry of Communications with the launch of the company’s work under its new name without any approval or license to practice official business from it - unless it was a secret corruption deal in which the share was shared by the head of government  And the Minister of Communications and those in the presidency, this is something that reveals a larger, more corrupt, banditry scandal and complicity with groups that commit murder and direct war through communications and against the southerners and their opponents from the men and Ahrar Yemen - which has been ruled out until today, but the company’s work coincided with ease with the government’s continued rejection of all claims  Popularity and legal calls to intervene and stop the work of the new company in Aden and the liberated areas unless it meets all the conditions and its main management is run from Aden or any area liberated from the Houthi to ensure the safety related to its services provided.

Therefore, popular awareness and pressure on a certain government to enable the southern capital to obtain the legal right to own, manage and operate the company from Aden or any liberated area, is the only bet left to force the government of total failure, to grant the liberated areas the legal right to own and manage the first independent telecommunications company. It is an irreplaceable opportunity for the legitimate state on the one hand and for all southern capital and the political and commercial forces on the other hand, especially the Southern Transitional Council, which rejected an integrated project that was presented to it early from a specialized telecommunications company, to buy and operate the branch of the South African company in Yemen, from the side of its ownership that was then present.  In Abu Dhabi, where the leaders of the transitional themselves reside, and its leaders tolerated the matter and did not pay any attention to it until today, for ignoring the importance of the financially profitable investment from owning an independent telecommunications company the size of MTN and the lack of security and strategic awareness of the leadership of the transitional,Towards its ability to control and manage the first independent telecommunications project in the south, it was able to pay its value for a month’s harvest with a lot of money and fees levies that are brought today to its treasury from the security points of its forces in Aden and Lahj, because the company’s selling price was very reasonable and urgently to evade obligations  The rest of the company is for the government side,

After the expiry of its contracts and the parent company taking a final decision to liquidate its business in Yemen, in light of the unsafe conditions in Yemen and the Houthi pressure on its management in Sana’a, and benefited from two periods of time from the company’s work in the name of Spacetel, and the renewal of its contract after that in the name of mtn, and it was supposed to return its ownership to the state, if it was subject to the conditions and laws of investment  And the public property, after the expiry of its two working periods in Yemen and its evasion of paying the remaining fees and entitlements to the state.
