Aden, NewsYemen:

Member of Parliament from the Islah party, the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, Ali Ashal, considered that the consultations launched by the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in Amman, will not achieve a “positive result by advancing the process of bringing about a comprehensive political settlement.”

Ashal, a member of the Islah delegation in the Amman consultations that took place in Jordan last week, said that the UN envoy’s consultations centered on the forces surrounding legitimacy without recording a real breakthrough by pressing the Houthi coup side to accept the features of a real and serious political settlement in Yemen, to be a kind of activity that the envoy feels some satisfaction with himself only.

The Brotherhood leader added, in an interview with "Suhail" channel, on Sunday evening, that the continuation of this situation will not achieve a positive result by pushing the process of bringing about a comprehensive political settlement, as a result of the arrogance faced by the United Nations from the coup party.

He said that Grundberg is still suffering from difficulties and a state of arrogance on the other side (the Houthi militia), while moving easily with all institutions and forces supporting legitimacy, whether in the political leadership and the government, or political parties, or even regional parties.

He stressed that the envoy suffers from a state of obstruction in reaching the other party (the Houthis) and did not find any response that could be referred to, as he did not reach Sanaa and did not meet the Houthi leaders in a real way.

He added that the envoy wanted to focus on the parties involved in the legitimacy and the political leadership.  Because he wants to remain active in front of the world and the United Nations.

The Brotherhood leader considered that the recent meetings of the international envoy, Hans Grandberg, in Jordan, mobilized groups of Yemeni personalities and political parties to say that his mission is still vital and in a state of permanent movement, and that he will not stop as a result of the obstruction imposed by the Houthis, and that he aims through it to give a message that "I am here" and that he is still practicing his job as peace envoy in Yemen.
