The Yemeni customs authorities, at the Shahn border port with the Sultanate of Oman, managed to seize 52 Kornet anti-tank and armored missiles, which were on their way to the Houthi militia.
Salem Aqeel, Director of Shipping Customs, confirmed that: Customs authorities carried out a qualitative operation after suspecting containers of electric generators.
Customs officials discovered 52 missiles that were hidden inside four boxes after the generators were taken out and shipped in their place.
He pointed out that the operation was carried out very professionally, as a small dynamo was installed as an alternative to the generator machine to function normally when operating at the port, but the vigilance of customs officials revealed the plan.
Aqeel considered that this seizure is the most important operation carried out by customs officials in Shahn in the recent period and comes within a deliberate effort and an organized vision for Shahn customs in particular and for Yemeni customs in general to protect national security from arms smuggling gangs and harm the security of the homeland and citizens.
This operation is considered the largest seizure of a qualitative weapon carried out by customs, as a series of shipments of ammunition and military supplies were previously seized.
