The Norwegian Radio said, on Monday, that a Norwegian citizen who became a member of Al-Qaeda in Yemen is with the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
According to the Associated Press, which listened to the radio, Anders Ostensvig Dell is being held in a hospital in Sanaa, and he is wanted in Norway on suspicion of terrorism, and the United States has put him on a black list.
Norway's public prosecutor, Haris Hrinovica, of the Norwegian Security Service, said the suspect's detention in hospital "makes us believe he is injured".
It was not clear when and how he entered the hospital, while there was no immediate confirmation from the Houthis.
Radio NRK said Ostensvig Dale converted to Islam in 2008 and visited Yemen several times before eventually joining the branch of al-Qaeda there, known as al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
She added that he left Norway permanently in 2011. Three years later, the Norwegian Security Service suspected his participation in a terrorist organization and was sought internationally.
Hrinovica told the radio that there may be challenges in handing Ostensweg Dail to Norway because of the Houthis who control Sanaa and most of northern Yemen.
