Yemeni politicians, activists and journalists welcomed the Security Council's decision, which was achieved through Emirati diplomacy, to designate Al Houthi as a terrorist.
They said that the decision means international prosecution of anyone involved in arms sales to Al-Houthi, and most importantly, the decision classifies the movement as a militia, depriving it of the ambitions of treating it internationally as a ruling party or a de-facto government.
They considered the issuance of the resolution an opportunity for all countries to change their dealings with the Houthi militia according to the new international classification of it as a terrorist group, and to refrain from embracing it and smuggling weapons to it or leniency as a result of its terrorist actions that threaten security and stability in the region.
Political journalist Nabil Al-Soufi asked, What is the terrorist crime that Al-Houthi has never used?
Murder because of opinion and belief, atonement, looting of property and indecent assault. Excessive force: missiles, marches, and mines.
The world has previously witnessed Sultan Zabin's crimes against women, a terrorist stain that Yemen has never known like it before.
Political journalist Sayyaf Al-Gharbani confirmed that the successful Emirati diplomacy covered the flaws of legitimacy in the United Nations, and said: The international resolution issued by the Security Council - today - classifies the Houthis as a "terrorist group", and Russia, which used to vote with Iran, voted against it this time.
Journalist Amin Al-Waeli said that the UN Security Council resolution describes the Houthi group as a terrorist group, and the United Nations must abide by the resolution and stop intimidating countries and governments and invoking the humanitarian situation.
For his part, journalist Abdul Salam al-Qaisi wrote, in a tweet, that America and Russia are fighting in Ukraine and are uniting by the Security Council resolution presented by the UAE against the Houthi group and preventing the arrival of weapons, and even describing it as a terrorist group.
The Emirati diplomacy is winning, especially since it is currently a non-permanent member of the Security Council, and this is in the interest of our battle.
And the southern leader, Wadah bin Attia, said, what does the Security Council resolution #Houthis and its terrorist group mean, it means that no country should deal with or host the Houthis, and stop all organizations that were supporting the Houthi under false pretexts, and strangle the Houthi militia financially, militarily and politically, and near the end of Houthi militias and strangling their apparent and secret allies.
Activist Zaid bin Nafeh pointed out that designating Al-Houthi as a terrorist is not only required of America and major countries, but of all countries and international human rights and legal institutions.
Journalist Yasser Al-Yafei said: "The Security Council's designation of the Houthi group as a terrorist group must turn into a reality, and all countries must deal with this decision seriously. This group must realize that it is pariah and that its options are limited with the world."
Activist Wissam Basindawa said in a tweet on her page, that after the Security Council’s decision today 2624 to designate the Houthi group as a terrorist group, it must therefore be reflected in the criminalization of everyone who deals with this group, embraces its leaders and allows and facilitates their movements, because all this falls within the framework of dealing with, supporting and facilitating a terrorist group.
