Aden, NewsYemen:

The BBC has published numerous testimonies of Yemenis who have worked in Britain for decades and whose pensions have been cut without any explanation from the government.

And the "BBC" indicated that there are about 2,500 people who have not received their pension due, which they received from the British government for years, and some of them confirm that they have not received any pension for 10 years.

The British Ministry of Labor and Pensions had asked former Yemeni workers to send proof that they were still alive to be eligible for pensions, but many former workers confirmed that they had sent the required life certificate since 2012 without receiving any answer.

Remittances of retired Yemenis' pensions from the United Kingdom, other European countries, and the United States are one of the contributors to providing Yemen with hard currency, along with remittances from expatriates, oil sales and aid.

For more than half a century, Yemenis in Britain worked in the most difficult iron jobs and other jobs in industrial areas, and many of them lost their hearing or limbs while working for periods extending from 30 to 40 years in factories.

They returned to their country of Yemen to spend the rest of their lives, but they are suffering and struggling because they are not getting their pension.

The BBC explained that the decline in pension payments is a combination of Yemen's situation in the shadow of war and the inadequacy of Yemeni banking procedures.  In addition to the British government's reluctance.
