Aden, NewsYemen:

A media source revealed a major financial corruption operation in the tens of millions in one of the Safer oil fields in the Marib Governorate, eastern Yemen.

Reuters photojournalist Ali Owaida said on his Facebook account that "the oil company's station No. 4, based in (Gwerban - Safer), received a total of (24 diesel locomotives) during the month of January, with a total of (one million and 762 thousand liters) from the Marib Refineries Company, at the official price per liter of 160 riyals.

Owaida added: "All quantities were sold at the commercial price, at retail, at the station, and in quantities through smuggling to areas outside the Ma'rib Governorate, at an approximate price of 600 riyals per liter, and a total amount of the January quantity is 1.57 billion and 200 thousand riyals."

These figures reflect the extent of corruption in the oil sectors in Marib Governorate, the proceeds of which go to leaders, influential people, the military, and tribesmen affiliated with the Islah Party, the local branch of the Brotherhood.
