Aden, NewsYemen, special:

The art of designing and implementing decoration works in Yemen has taken an accelerated path in demand and competition in recent years, and Yemeni women have been able to acquire the largest share of decoration work in the local market.

And people's demand for the use of decorations in homes, shops and cafes increased, driven by openness to the outside world, and interest in different fields, one of which is the field of decoration or interior design.

Engineer Sana Sanad Al-Kaf told NewsYemen that people's interest in decoration in Yemen at the present time has increased than before, expecting an increase in demand for it in the future if the projects continue, capabilities are developed and materials are imported from abroad.

She explained that the nature of women with their interest in aesthetic matters and artistic touches and the ability to coordinate colors in the simplest matters is what made her take over the market in the field of decoration unlike her male counterpart.

She added, "The tendency of male engineers to work in contracting and engineering supervision has reduced their presence in the design field."

She pointed out that the openness to the field of decoration prompted many engineers and fine arts graduates to focus on this department, which in turn leads to the creation of competition between designers and implementing agencies.

For her part, the engineer, Abeer Al-Gharam, told "Newsmen" that the customer trusts the woman, because the woman is more committed than her male brother in the decoration work, but the woman has more beautiful and better touches, although there are creative men, but the woman tastes more.

She added, "The decoration work began to spread in Yemen, and it became a specialty in Yemeni public and private universities because of its importance and artistic value, and in what contributes to providing specialized services that elevate the profession community."

Engineer Sana Sanad Al-Kaf says that the decoration work has created job opportunities for people from engineers, carpenters, electricians and others, because decoration is a comprehensive work of accurate details in different aspects, and this requires an integrated work team to finish the work in the required manner.

Engineer Sanaa Al-Kaf confirmed that the Yemeni folklore and character are very distinctive, and the distinguished engineer is the one who employs this model in the right place in a modern and decent manner, but sometimes the requirements of customers force the designer to use other models.

Despite the development of the art of designs and decorative works imported in Yemen during the past two decades, successive Yemeni generations still inherit the Yemeni art of decoration or inscription, which embodies a cultural heritage that reflects the nobility of the Yemeni people.
