The Houthis committed suicide on the outskirts of the city of Marib, in an attempt to control the last strongholds of legitimacy in the north, and pushed thousands of fighters to achieve their goal of controlling the wealthy province, ignoring international calls to stop the attack, disregarding the victims of their members and civilians.
Despite all the steadfastness of the city, the militias achieved great victories and took control of large areas in the governorate. In fact, it is no longer separated from the governorate by only two districts, namely Marib, the capital and the valley, where the gas fields are. The dangers of the fall of these two districts are increasing day by day, especially after the daily mobilization of militias to Governorate.
Marib tribes and a limited military force defend the city, but that defense may not hold much, according to the sources, in light of the lack of sufficient support, and the great state of humiliation of the army leaders there, in addition to the great capabilities of the militias and the huge human stock that they throw into the battle in a way daily.
The dangers of the city’s fall and Iran’s victory in Yemen are increasing every day, and what is surprising is the size of the large military forces of the Brotherhood-controlled army in Shaqra, Shabwa and Wadi Hadhramaut, which are areas close to Marib Governorate, and its failure to intervene to defend the city.
Observers believe that the intervention of these forces will reverse the course of the battle in the interest of legitimacy, but the army leadership refuses to pay even part of the forces, and it has special projects in these areas that are more important than defending Marib.
In the city of Shuqrah, there are more than 12 military brigades armed with the latest weapons, but they believe that their war should be towards Aden only, as they do not participate in the battles against the militias in Marib, Shabwa and even Lawdar, near Shuqrah.
In a great contradiction that indicates the malicious scheme of these forces, its leaders talk about liberating Aden from the transitional and restoring the state, while those who are in Aden and run the state there is the internationally recognized government that has been present and doing its work for months in the city, but the Brotherhood forces do not see a government certain legitimacy, it only recognizes the legitimacy of its officials and leaders in Turkey and Qatar.
According to the sources, the forces in Shuqrah refuse to push hard to protect Marib and to liberate Bayhan and to defend Lawdar. They have not moved forces to these fronts and are still in their places in Shuqrah and Arqoub despite the presence of the Riyadh Agreement that stopped the battles in Abyan a year ago.
The sources say that the al-Halhal front in the Lauder district has the presence of the resistance forces, the Salafists, the al-Shajri forces, which are not affiliated with the Abyan axis, and the Hadi Defense Ministry, and the front is devoid of any presence of Shuqrah forces, as if the matter does not concern them.
And in Hadhramaut Valley, there are forces with more than 40,000 soldiers who have not participated in the battles since the Houthi coup against the state 7 years ago, and they are forces loyal to the Brotherhood that did not previously intervene in the battles, nor did they intervene now with the approach of the Houthi threat to the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa governorate.
