he strategic "Al-Mahjer" area on the western coast has been under the control of the Houthi militia since the latter's coup against state institutions and the invasion of Sanaa by force of arms in September 2014, and remained under its control until Thursday morning, November 17, 2021, when the joint forces liberated it with a lightning military operation.
The "Al-Majar" area is also called Rubae Al-Azoud . It is administratively and geographically affiliated to Izlat Al-Jumah in the Mokha district, and it is adjacent to the Hays district of the Hodeidah governorate, to the north, and the Maqbna district of the Taiz governorate, to the east, and from the west parts of Al-Khoukha and Al-Zahari, which are affiliated to Al-Hodeidah.
Most of its residents live in the hills and sloping plains, and an electoral center is located in it in constituency 38 (K 11). Personalities from these areas compete for it. Member of its local council, Sheikh Ali Mahyoub, may God have mercy on him.
It includes several villages, including: Al-Mahajar, Dar Al-Ra'i, Al-Shuaib, Al-Arekah, Al-Zariqa, Al-Hadqa, Al-Dihama, Al-Qassem, Jabal Al-Awj, and the villages of Jaashi and Hadiya.
The Houthi militia took control of it and pushed most of the young men from the region into sectarian courses, and then on the fighting fronts, and many of the “quarry” sons were killed in the militia’s ranks.
The residents of the Al-Ra’i quarry were scarred by the Houthis’ control, but were silent for fear of the militia’s oppression. Their position changed after the liberation of the area, as they directed the joint forces to minefields, Houthi sites and their most important camps.
Before the liberation of the region, most of its residents used to shop in the markets located in the areas of influence of the joint forces in Al-Najiba and Al-Sablah.
The people describe the years of Houthi militia’s control of their area and their lives as “a nightmare that perched on their chests,” with the help of beneficiaries from their own country, such as the sons of “Arek and Naji Jubeir.”
Al-Mahjer breathed a sigh of relief after seven lean years, according to Muhammad, the son of the region, and adds: "Today (Saturday) I go shopping in Sabla and do my normal work in my area, which the joint forces entered."
And he added, "The humanitarian and relief organizations were not reaching us - that is, during the control of the Houthi militia - and now they will."
The joint forces on the West Coast, through their military operation launched three days ago, seek to rid the population in the targeted areas of the Houthi militia's brutality and terrorism, which has affected adults and children and does not differentiate between a man and a woman.
