Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

Well-informed sources in the capital, Sanaa, revealed to NewsYemen that the socialist leader loyal to the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, and a member of the so-called Supreme Political Council run by the militias, Sultan al-Sami’i, continues to refuse;  Returning to Sana'a and insisting on continuing his seclusion in the city of Taiz, where he sought refuge for more than a month.

The sources said that Al-Sami’i sees no point in his return to Sana’a in light of the continued confiscation of his right and powers as a member of the Supreme Political Council, whose members are prevented from practicing their work by the Houthi leader, director of the presidential office, Ahmed Hamid (Abu Mahfouz), who is considered the most prominent Houthi leader with influence and who is now controlling  Everything related to the political and executive scene in the authority of the militias.

According to the sources, Hamed issued directives to prevent stamping any memorandum, message or directive with the seal of a member of the Political Council Sultan Al-Sami’i by the presidential office, and he also issued directives to all state institutions not to deal with any letters or memos by Al-Sami’i, as they are issued by a person who has no knowledge of the matter.  Validity, including these directives, limiting dealing with the memoirs of the Speaker of the Council only, the Houthi leader, Mahdi Al-Mashat, which angered Al-Sami’i, who was forced to go to Taiz under the pretext of participating in the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday, and there he retreated and refused to return to Sana’a.

Sultan Al-Sami’i is a leader and member of the House of Representatives for the Yemeni Socialist Party and one of those who joined the support of the Houthi militias for a long time, and even established a link and coordination relationship with Iran, which provided him with generous financial support, in addition to his support in establishing Al-Sahat TV channel among the list of media channels that support it such as Al-Mayadeen  Al-Masira, Al-Manar and other channels affiliated with its affiliates in the region, before he was appointed as a member of the Supreme Political Council when it was formed in 2016 AD, as one of the militia allies and represents the Taiz governorate.  On more than one occasion, he even attacked Hamid publicly, which made leaders and media figures from the Houthi militia launch a broad attack on Al-Sami’i, and support Hamid against him before Hamid sought help from the militia leader, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, who stood by him against Al-Sami’i.

Despite the many mediations that took place to end the differences between Al-Sami’i and Hamid, these mediations only succeeded in easing the tension between the two men for a period before the differences returned again due to Hamid’s continued confiscation and marginalization of Al-Sami’i and preventing him from exercising any powers as he does with the rest of the members of the Political Council.

According to the sources, the leader and member of the political bureau of the militia Salim Al-Maghales, who holds the position of Minister of Civil Service in the militia government, tried to persuade Al-Sami’i to return to Sana’a, but the latter replied: “Sana’a is freed for Ahmed Hamid and Hashemi Saada (in reference to the Houthi leaders from Saada’s control of all positions).  important), as for us, the owners of Taiz, who see us as third-class citizens, our place is here among our people... When Sanaa accommodates all Yemenis and treats them equally, we will return to it.”

And Al-Sami’i is not the only one who has entered into disputes with the Houthi leader, Ahmed Hamid, as many loyalists and affiliates of militias from other governorates other than Saada face the same marginalization and exclusion from Hamid, who has become the one with the widest influence and the one with the first word in controlling everything small and large concerning the executive work in the authority of the Houthi militias  Rather, the sources confirm that Hamid is the one who runs the Supreme Political Council and the militia government and controls the performance of Parliament and the Shura Council loyal to them.
