A human rights activist revealed that the Houthi militia committed crimes of slaughtering civilians in the areas vacated by the joint forces, south of Hodeidah Governorate.
Ghaleb al-Qadim, a member of the National Committee to Investigate Human Rights Allegations, told NewsYemen that the Houthi militia had committed four massacres of civilians in areas and villages in Al-Durahimi and Al-Tuhaita districts.
He added that the Houthi militia, in all the areas that it regained control of, south of Hodeidah, committed the biggest atrocities and violations against the population, including slaughter, killing, displacement, arrest and looting of homes.
Activists condemned the Houthi atrocities and crimes, which included arrests, field executions, massacres of innocent people, and the retaliatory reactions of the Houthi militia.
Media activist Abdullah Assili told NewsYemen that in the past three days, the Houthi militia committed the most heinous crimes, including killing, arrest, burning of homes and confiscation of property, taking advantage of the lack of media coverage.
Assili criticized the silence of human rights organizations, accusing them of turning a blind eye to the horrific Houthi crimes, blaming the UN redeployment mission in Hodeidah for what happened.
For his part, journalist Ismail Al-Qadi said that the violations and intimidation committed by the Houthi militia amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Al-Qadi added that the information received raises alarm, and that some of the killings took place in front of children, and should not be allowed to pass without punishing the perpetrators, noting that the Houthi intimidation operations led to an unprecedented wave of displacement.
The deputy of the Executive Unit for the displaced in Hodeidah, Jamal Al-Mashri, had confirmed earlier that the Houthi militia had carried out field executions, and cut off the heads of some civilians, and threw them on public roads to intimidate the population and force them to flee.
Al-Mashri said, in press statements, that a number of crimes were committed by the Houthi militia, including killing, arresting, looting property and pushing combat forces into residential neighborhoods, with the aim of intimidating civilians and pushing them to flee.
Mashri complained of the difficulty of providing the needs of the displaced families on a standard basis, as well as the failure of humanitarian organizations to respond to their repeated calls for the necessity of providing the necessary needs.
