Grundberg arrives in Taiz on the first visit of a UN envoy to Yemen

On Monday, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, arrived in the city of Taiz, to review the deteriorating humanitarian and health situation in the besieged city.

This is the first visit of a UN envoy to Taiz since the start of the war that erupted nearly 7 years ago, following the Houthi militia's coup against state institutions by force of arms.

Grundberg arrived in Taiz from the capital, Aden, where he arrived on Sunday, and met with the governor of the province, Nabil Shamsan, and the leaders of the local authority.

The UN envoy will be briefed on the humanitarian situation in Taiz, on which the Houthi militia has imposed a stifling siege since the start of the war.
