Marib, NewsYemen, Private:

In light of the dangerous field developments in Marib, a joint statement was issued attributed to a number of political parties in the governorate, which launched a sudden, stinging attack on legitimacy and the Arab alliance.  Expressing his astonishment at the catastrophic failure in managing the battle.

The statement attributed to the Congress, Islah, Socialist, Unionist Nasserite, and Rashad parties in the governorate, also accused legitimacy and the coalition of betraying Marib and not assuming their responsibilities in defending it.

In a remarkable development, it raised a lot of questions and exclamations in search of a logical explanation for the reasons for its issuance and the risk of severing ties with the alliance.

This statement coincides with the Houthis' relentless attempts to complete control of the Juba district, bringing all the southern and southwestern districts under their control, thus completing the encirclement of the city of Marib and the Wadi District on three sides.

Head of the Congress branch in Marib, Sheikh Mansour al-Sayadi, denied the party's relationship with this statement.  He affirmed that it was issued by the Islah party with individuals, and a decision was issued to dismiss them from the conference..accusing the reformists of disavowing their failure and failure on various fronts.

Other politicians share al-Sayyadi's opinion about the party that issued the statement, which is the Islah party that controls legitimacy, and added that it hid behind the National Alliance party bloc in an attempt to gain internal popular acceptance and political weight - which does not exist - before the international community.

This statement comes about two months after the Houthis announced an initiative to stop the battles in Marib, known as the “Marib Initiative.” They handed it over to the Omani mediation, whose approval in Marib means (theoretically) stopping the Houthi offensive that has been going on since the beginning of the year.

The initiative is based on a direct agreement between the local authority in Marib (away from legitimacy and the coalition) on the one hand and the Houthis on the other hand on several points, most notably the joint administration of the province from its people, the restart of the gas station, the guarantee of freedom of movement, the release of all the kidnapped, the compensation of those affected, the return of the displaced, the commitment to the shares of other provinces, of oil and gas, and the release of all prisoners and detainees on both sides.

Researchers ruled out in international reports that the Houthis stormed the city of Marib and suggested the option of concluding an agreement between the local authorities in Marib and the Iranian-backed rebels after completing their control of al-Juba under the pretext of not endangering the population and the displaced in the governorate’s capital.

AFP quoted Abdulghani Al-Eryani, the senior researcher at the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, as saying that the Houthis control most of Marib and narrow the city, and Al-Eryani believes that there is a possibility that the tribes and parties fighting  In the ranks of Hadi's forces, the Houthis offered to spare the city the scourge of war.

In light of all this, is this statement considered flirtation from the Marib authorities to the Houthis and a unilateral approach to disavow legitimacy and the coalition, in implementation of the Houthi requirement to enter into negotiations on the points of the initiative and the mechanism for its implementation?!
