Mukalla, NewsYemen, private:

The view of the people of Hadhramaut Governorate (southeast of Yemen) to the Houthi militia is not much different from that of al-Qaeda. The danger of the two terrorist groups is equal in the eyes of the population, with a difference in nature and level.

But a segment of the population, who lived for nearly two years under the rule of "Al-Qaeda", after the organization took control of the city of Mukalla in 2015, sees the Houthi militia as a greater danger to them, especially with its adoption of an approach based on changing the culture and belief of local communities once they control the city.  an area.

In conversations with NewsYemen, residents say that al-Qaeda has devoted its presence in Hadramawt to demolishing civil, military and security government institutions and replacing them with centers led only by its members.  With the aim of building an emirate of an extremist religious nature.

According to them, the ambitions of the terrorist organization focused on tightening control over the oil-rich Hadramawt's resources and revenues, in addition to collecting taxes, after seizing state funds from the central bank in the city of Mukalla.

They pointed out that the people turned a blind eye to the presence of the terrorist organization in the city, on the grounds that it did not engage in the religious and ideological aspect and did not use force to impose extraneous beliefs on society, without neglecting the axiom that the time period during which "Al-Qaeda" seized Mukalla, did not  It was enough to form an overall impression of his project.

Al-Houthi's return to Bayhan raises concerns in Hadhramaut

Meanwhile, the people of Hadhramaut raised fears and warnings of the possibility of the Houthi militia taking control of the entire Shabwa governorate, after its takeover of "Bayhan", as it is the main gateway to the Hadhramaut governorate and the southeastern governorates of Yemen.

The experience of the Houthis in the areas currently under their control in northern Yemen increases the fears of the people on the coast of Hadhramaut, about what the group may practice, if it reaches their areas, especially with what appears to be a “silent normalization by the Brotherhood’s Islah party with the new reality in Bayhan.”

These fears are reinforced by the directness of the Houthi militia, to perpetuate its deviant sectarian ideology, in the districts of Bayhan, Shabwa, and to practice extraneous religious and sectarian rituals on the population, as soon as it seized the three districts without a fight.

The Houthis transformed schools in their areas of control into sectarian camps;  They also use it to inflate the minds of young people with their sectarian ideas in preparation for their involvement in the battle fronts against the Yemenis.

The militia is racing against time to “sect” the districts of Ain, Usailan and Al-Alia, west of Shabwa, while the local authority and military units loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood in the governorate are committed to the role of spectator, which reinforces their complicity in handing over the area.

And last week, Baihan schools were forced to reopen their doors, after suspending the educational process, but the students boycotted them, and an unlimited number of classes did not attend and left after the morning queues.

Earlier, the Houthis gathered a large number of clerics, leaders and dignitaries of the Baihan tribes, and transported them to Sana'a to hold meetings with the group's leadership there.
