Aden, NewsYemen:

A Saudi series sparked widespread anger among Yemenis, after it insulted Yemeni women and adopted a dialogue that was described as "racist and arrogant" towards Yemen.

Thousands of Yemenis denounced, in a hashtag on Twitter, #Rashesh_Series_Abusive_For_Yemen_Women, for the abuses directed by the Saudi series, broadcast on MBC, for Yemeni women.

And in the sixth episode, the Saudi actor, Yaqoub Farhan, who embodies the role of the dangerous criminal in the eighties in Saudi Arabia, "Rashash Al-Otaibi", appears, talking about the idea of escaping, saying: "We save the dirhams for Yemen ... we are dressed in harems and drugs," in an apparent insult to Yemeni women.

Yemeni and Saudi tweeters defended the women of Yemen, denouncing the series' exposure of them in this disgraceful way, and attacking the "MBC" channel because of its intentional abuse of Yemeni women.

They said that the series "Rashesh" offended the tribes of Yemen, relied on portraying Yemeni women as a prostitute, and linked Yemenis to terrorism and drug trafficking.

They called on the government of interim President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to submit an official objection to the series’ abuse of Yemen and women to the Saudi official authorities, especially as it slipped into the abuse of Yemeni men and women on more than one occasion and in more than one dramatic dialogue.

It is worth noting that the series "Rashesh" presents the story of the most dangerous criminal in Saudi Arabia (Rashesh Al-Otaibi) during the eighties, who puzzled the police and committed many crimes.

Zaa'a Hajlan, Al-Otaibi's mother, had earlier called for stopping the series, which deals with the biography of her eldest son, without the permission of his family.
