The seasonal rains in Sanaa during the past few days revealed the extent of the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - tampering with state institutions and property, and the race of its officials to loot the accounts of institutions and revenue offices, after about 5 years of looting the salaries of state employees.

While it approved an increase in the total zakat revenue (only) in Sana’a, to one billion and 916 million during the first quarter of this year 2021 AD, with an increase of 385%, the Houthi militia failed - in return - to provide the simplest virtual government services to the residents of Sana’a, which is the maintenance of drainage channels rain water.

Construction waste (stones, soil, and cement) is spread widely in the neighborhoods of Sanaa, in large quantities for influential leaders of the Houthi militia who are working to buy old homes, then demolish them, and re-establish them with recreational standards and imaginary financial expenses.

With rainfall, these wastes turn many Sanaa streets into water lakes, and contribute to the expansion of the excavation area in the roads, cracking the asphalt layer, and blocking the drainage channels of the torrential rains, which threatens the homes of Sana’a residents when the rain water level rises.

In order to face the damages of the torrential rains, the Houthi militia hastened to blackmail local and international organizations by holding what it called a consultative meeting on Sunday, August 1, with the officials of these organizations, the outcomes of which were announced the formation of a joint field committee comprising representatives of the leaders of the Houthi militia, the Red Crescent, the Norwegian Council for Refugee Affairs and Sustainable Development and the Organization Al-Wash, with the aim of "counting the actual damage caused by the floods and contributing to supporting and implementing emergency response work for affected homes and families."

Informed sources revealed to (Newsmen) that the Houthi militia has entrusted the task of maintaining and restoring rainwater drainage channels in Sana'a to international organizations, and that the implementation of the maintenance project will begin this week.

According to meteorological center bulletins, during the past few days, Sana'a and its suburbs witnessed "moderate to heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms. And the meteorological station recorded that the amount of rain that fell on Sanaa until the morning of Sunday, August 1, amounted to 7.8 mm in Haddah.
