Aden, NewsYemen:

The governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, has committed himself to paying the dues of the purchased electric power companies, which the legitimate government is evading.

Governor Lamlas confirmed, according to his secretary, Muhammad Al-Junaidi, his readiness to ensure the payment of their dues through an official letter in which the local authority in Aden is committed to addressing the status of their financial dues in case the government does not fulfill its pledge to pay the dues within one week.

Al-Junaidi said, in a post on his Facebook, that the governor confirmed his understanding of the request of the owners of energy companies, to obtain an official assurance confirming the payment of their financial dues, so that the electricity would not be cut off in Aden, stressing the commitment of the local authority in Aden to address the status of their financial dues in case the government did not comply with the payment.  Undertaking to pay the dues within one week.

The governor also assured Lamles that he would not allow the electricity supply to be cut off to Aden and the neighboring governorates in this hot summer, considering it a moral and national responsibility that rests with everyone.

This came after the Aden Electricity Corporation announced late yesterday evening that 50% of the purchased power stations were out of service, and the company owners refused the legitimate government's pledge.

The legitimate government has not fulfilled its obligation to pay the dues of the purchased energy companies, and is using this as part of the service war it is waging against the capital, Aden.

It is worth noting that the capital, Aden, witnessed an improvement and stability in the electricity supply during the last few years.
