Aden, NewsYemen:

The British ambassador to Yemen, Michael Aron, said that the war will continue in the country, until all parties work seriously to end it, but he returned at the same time to express his confidence that peace can be achieved.

"My first impression is that the war will continue until Yemen's leaders act decisively to end it," Aron said on his Twitter account.

"The West can encourage/facilitate (or hinder!), but leaders on all sides need to work for the benefit of the Yemeni people and find a way to stop the fighting and live together in peace and security," he added.

The British diplomat stressed that it will not be easy, but "Yemen is a country with a long history and traditions, a wonderful cultural heritage, active political parties and a strong civil society, in addition to a proud and resilient people."

"That is why I am confident that peace can be achieved," he added.

Yesterday (Monday), Aron announced the end of his tenure as the British ambassador to Yemen, stressing that this was his last week in his position.

He pointed out that the three-year period he spent in the position gave him a great privilege and earned him a lot of experience and know-how.
