Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

With great difficulty, Ahmed Sultan - a private sector employee - is trying to distribute 30,000 Yemeni riyals (50 US dollars) to cover the needs of Eid al-Adha clothes 2021 for 3 children aged 3-5 years, including a girl.

At the gate of a children's clothing store on Hayel Street, west of Sana'a, Ahmad stands to read the prices of children's clothing hung on the storefront and gate, hoping to find a possible approximation between the prices of fancy clothes and the total amount he has available to cover his children's Eid clothing needs.

We no longer care about the quality of fabrics, their quality, their shelf life and the country of production, it is enough to be able to buy them and silence the children with new clothes.” Ahmed Sultan adds to (Newsmen) that children’s clothes come first in the ladder of Eid needs, but their prices are insanely high, and in light of the suspension of salaries  State employees, the decline in production in the private sector and the layoff of thousands of employees in this sector, made clothing children on holidays an economic problem and a social dilemma at the level of the family and the individual.

Residents in Sana’a confirm their reluctance to buy new clothes for the blessed Eid al-Adha 2021 , and only wash old clothes for them, and in his talk to (NewsYemen), the young man Abdullah Al-Faqih - a high school student - confirms that their family on this holiday settled on the opinion of providing Eid clothes for children only, and said  Smiling, "We took our chance during the days of prosperity and the days of salaries," noting that he and his friends shopped in a number of commercial centers and came out with the impression that "Eid is a holiday of wellness, as they say."

The high wages for transporting goods, the doubling of customs duties, the increase in taxes, and the repeated illegal levies imposed by the Houthi militia on the shops in Sana’a, as well as the price doses in the value of electricity, all contributed to the rise in clothing prices, setting records, according to the worker in the clothing market, Walid Al-Raymi.  Who indicated in his interview with (NewsYemen) that most shoppers only come to watch.

He said, "The movement of buying and selling in the clothing market before Eid al-Adha this year is very limited and is almost limited to children's clothing only," which here means the insistence of Yemeni families in Sana'a to enable their children to enjoy the holiday despite the state of need and the deteriorating living conditions of the majority of the population.
