The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, continues the policy of collection from citizens for every religious, national or sectarian occasion of its own, through the method of collecting donations from citizens, using the method of extortion, where the donation becomes in exchange for obtaining a gas cylinder.
In this context, the Houthi militia has collected donations from citizens under the name of preparing an Eid convoy, through Agal Al-Harat, coinciding with the approaching Eid Al-Adha, and linking the donation process to obtaining gas cylinders, whose price was raised to 7800 riyals.
Local sources in the capital, Sanaa, told NewsYemen: The militia leaders issued directives to all neighborhood leaders in the capital, Sanaa, to prepare a large Eid convoy by collecting donations from citizens with names. Eid rams that will be assembled as part of a convoy will be sent to militia fighters on the fronts.
According to the sources, the militia supervisors at the district level, as well as the officials of the domestic gas distribution committees, are following up on Agal Al-Harat and urging them to collect donations, noting that some Al-Aqal expressed their displeasure with the process of obligating the collection of such an amount (100) thousand riyals as a minimum, explaining to the Houthi supervisors that they would By collecting what they could, especially since they cannot oblige all people to pay donations before Eid al-Adha in light of this economic situation and the employees’ failure to receive their salaries. However, the supervisors and leaders of the Houthi militia threatened the head of the neighborhoods who failed to collect donations in any way by changing them and replacing them with a new headband that is more loyal to the militias.
The operations of the militias collecting donations for what they call the Eid convoy coincided with changing the gas distribution mechanisms through Agal Al-Harat, where they were given quantities of gas at a price of (4700) riyals per cylinder, but the militias changed the mechanism by granting Al-Agal quantities of gas through stations at a price of (7800). Real on the pretext that it is commercial gas, with the need for every citizen to get gas through the lanes and not directly from the stations, which has increased the suffering for people who see that this price represents a new dose added to the dose of oil derivatives prices.
One of the neighborhood managers told NewsYemen: that during more than fifteen years of his work as a sane person of his neighborhood, he did not find or meet with officials who have this amount of greed and gluttony and the ability to loot and defraud people, as the supervisors and leaders of the Houthi militias appointed at the level of directorates or at the level of service committees do. Such as the gas distribution committees at the district level.
He added: These are not only corrupt and robbers, but greedy people who have a complex of revenge against the people who want to rob them of even their daily livelihood. Hardly a month passes without finding them inventing an occasion in which they ask to collect donations from people in opportunistic and extortionary methods.
Al-Aqil, who asked not to be named, concluded by saying: If the Houthis could block the air in the capital, Sanaa, or turn it into a commodity on the black market to sell, they would have done so.
