Ibb, NewsYemen:

The Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, has privatized the Electricity Corporation for a Houthi investor, as part of efforts to destroy state institutions and turn them into fiefdoms that supply the militia's economy.

Informed sources said that leaders of the Houthi militia agreed, during the past few days, to privatize the Electricity Corporation in Ibb Governorate, and give it to an investor from its followers called "Jamaan".

The Electricity Corporation has resumed work during the past months through its own private generators, and has connected electricity to a number of city streets, at a price lower than the commercial price of power plants.

According to the sources, the management of the Electricity Corporation in Ibb city agreed to abandon the corporation in favor of the investor, "Jamaan," in exchange for a financial return for Houthi leaders, including the director of the Electricity Corporation.

The employees of the Electricity Corporation refused to lease the Corporation's power stations to a commercial investor, and considered what is happening to be a disaster for state institutions, and that it is causing many employees to be deprived of work and their right to obtain the crumbs of a living.
