Official documents obtained by NewsYemen revealed the involvement of a military official in the Second Military District in Hadhramaut Governorate (southeast of Yemen) in seizing swathes of state land and real estate on the coast of Hadramout.

According to the documents, the commander of the Moral Guidance Division in the second military region, Brigadier General Saleh Omar Salem Al-Maari, used his position to disburse housing plans for him and a number of his relatives.

The documents show that Brigadier General Al-Maari seized 10 plots of state land and wrote them in his name, taking advantage of his assignment by the Governor of Hadhramaut, Major General Faraj Al-Bahsani, to supervise the Real Estate Establishment in the Coast, after the occurrence of imbalances and manipulation of state lands by real estate employees.

He also exchanged 9 other pieces for his cousin, Al-Saad Ahmed Salem Al-Maari.  He also spent 9 plots of land for one of his relatives, Muhammad Saeed Muhammad.

Brigadier General Al-Maari was the commander of the Military Intelligence Division in the second region, before he was transferred to the Moral Guidance Division. During his custody, a young man from Mukalla, Adeeb Muhammad Ali Rabie, was murdered inside the prison.

According to security sources, Al-Maari arrested the young man, Adeeb Rabie, for personal reasons, and only one week later, the latter was found hanged inside the Military Intelligence Division prison in Mukalla.

He is also accused of setting up a security cell, without the knowledge of the governor of Hadhramaut, commander of the second military region, Major General Faraj Al-Bahsani, whose mission is to monitor the posts of media professionals and activists, criticizing the local authority, and threaten and prosecute them, with the aim of distorting the Hadrami Elite Forces.
