Shabwa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The Militia of the Islah Party, the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, resorted to violence to suppress the peaceful demonstrations that took place on Wednesday in all areas of Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen.

In the Baihan district, the Brotherhood's militia attacked hundreds of protesters using live bullets, injuring at least 5 people, with varying degrees of injuries.

The Brotherhood militia also launched a campaign of arrests, targeting dozens of Shabwa residents participating in the peaceful activities called for by the Southern Transitional Council.

Among the kidnapped was Taha Haidar, director of the media department of the Southern Transitional Council, in the Baihan district.

In Nisab district, local and human rights sources reported that Brotherhood militia members tried to storm the house of the head of the mass administration in the Transitional Council branch, and kidnapped his son "Hamza" and another person named Nassim Badib.

In Mayfa'a district, Brotherhood militias closed all roads leading to the Upper Baqadir area and prevented participants from reaching the place of the peaceful event.

Eyewitnesses said that the Brotherhood's militia, reinforced by military vehicles, imposed a cordon on the cities of Nisab and Radhum, and prevented entry and exit from them until the afternoon hours.

In Radhum, the Brotherhood militia kidnapped a citizen named Khaled al-Qa'ao'i, in the al-Mashajara area, and looted a motorcycle.

On Wednesday, thousands of Shabwa people went out in mass rallies in 16 districts in the governorate, to denounce the violations of the Brotherhood's militia, and chanted slogans demanding the departure of the Brotherhood's authority from their governorate.
