Aden, NewsYemen:

The head of Hamas' political bureau, Khaled Meshaal, expressed his thanks to the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, weeks after the movement honored the Houthis with its shield.

In an interview with the “Special Interview” program on Al-Arabiya TV, in response to a question about Hamas handing over a shield to the Houthis, Meshaal said: “We thank everyone who supports us, including Iran, which provided us with weapons and technology, but this is not at the expense of our independent decision and our belonging to our Arab and Islamic nation.”

He added, "Our thanks to any country does not mean that we agree on its regional or international agenda."

When asked whether "Hamas" condemns the Houthis' bombing of Saudi Arabia and Hezbollah's intervention in Yemen and Syria, Meshaal said: "We have a position on what is happening in the region, but Hamas has its cause that is preoccupied with it is the Palestinian cause... Therefore, we do not interfere or  We accept an attack on Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, or any country."

Last June, the representative of Hamas in Sana'a, Moaz Abu Shamala, met with the leader of the Houthi group, Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, and gave him the movement's shield in appreciation of what he said was "the group's role in supporting the Palestinian resistance."
